This article is from the series "The Solar System" where we will be sharing interesting facts about everything, from the origin of the Solar System to the mysterious massive planet 9. Please follow our social media accounts to get regular updates.
The Solar System doesn’t end with the planets, there’s a whole world after it. Starting with the Kuiper Belt (काइपर घेरा), Scattered Disc, Detached Objects and the undiscovered Oors Cloud (ऑर्ट क्लाउड), the boundary of the Solar system is way further. These objects are known as Trans-Neptunian Objects (TNOs). This vast dark world has many unknown secrets waiting to be discovered.
Here are some interesting facts about the Trans-Neptunian Objects:
No confirmed direct observations of the Oort cloud have been made
————————————
Kuiper belt is similar to the asteroid belt but is far larger—20 times as wide and 20 to 200 times as massive
Appendix: AU
————————————
Some of the Solar System’s moons, such as Neptune‘s Triton and Saturn‘s Phoebe, may have originated in the region
————————————
Many compounds that would be gaseous when closer to the Sun remain solid in the Kuiper belt
————————————
The region now called the Kuiper belt was hypothesized in various forms for decades. It was only in 1992 that the first direct evidence for Kuiper belt’s existence was found
————————————
The Scattered disk is sparsely populated by icy small solar system bodies
————————————
The innermost portion of the scattered disc overlaps with a donut-shaped region of Kuiper belt, but its outer limits reach much farther away from the Sun
————————————
The first scattered-disc object (SDO) to be recognised as such was 1996 TL66, originally identified in 1996 by astronomers based at Mauna Kea in Hawaii
————————————
It has one known moon, Dysnomia
————————————
Spectral analysis of selected Kuiper belt and scattered objects has revealed signatures of similar compounds. Both Pluto and Eris, for instance, show signatures for methane
————————————
Detached objects have also been referred to in the scientific literature as extended scattered disc objects (E-SDO), distant detached objects (DDO), or scattered–extended
————————————
These objects lie outside an apparently nearly empty gap in the Solar System starting at about 50 AU. Sednoids have no significant interaction with the planets
Appendix: Semi-major axis
————————————
The Kuiper belt and the Scattered disc, the other two reservoirs of trans-Neptunian objects, are less than one-thousandth as far from the Sun as the Oort cloud
Appendix: Planetesimals, light year
————————————
Both regions lie beyond the Heliosphere and are in interstellar space
————————————
Simulations of the evolution of the Oort cloud from the beginnings of the Solar System to the present suggest that the cloud’s mass peaked around 800 million years after the formation

I enjoyed reading about Pluto but this Article for me, was completely out of left field. It’s really good!
Thanks ☺️
Very interesting!
