This article is from the series "The Solar System" where we will be sharing interesting facts about everything, from the origin of the Solar System to the mysterious massive planet 9. Please follow our social media accounts to get regular updates.
Earth ( ⊕ , पृथ्वी ), our very own blue planet is the only known celestial body known to have life. Call it the act of god or a series of favourable circumstances, our planet managed to hit the perfect balance. This balance took billions of years but in the end, we got our miracle planet.
Here are some interesting facts about our home planet Earth:
The age of Earth is deduced on the basis of radiometric dating and other sources of evidence

Like all other astronomical objects in the universe, Earth was formed by Accretion

The material that was in orbit around the Earth quickly coalesced into the Moon, possibly within less than a month, but in no more than a century. Some of Theia’s mass merged with Earth
————————————
The first atmosphere was captured from the solar nebula. A combination of the solar wind and Earth’s heat would have driven off this atmosphere
After the impact which created the Moon, the molten Earth released volatile gases; and later more gases were released by volcanoes resulting in the second one
The third one is the current atmosphere
————————————
Pangaea was the most recent supercontinent to have existed and the first to be reconstructed by geologists
————————————
————————————
Some geological evidence indicates that life may have arisen as early as 4.1 billion years ago
Appendix: proliferation, Aerobic organisms, Anaerobic organisms
————————————
Earth’s largest extinction: Permian–Triassic extinction event killed 57% of all families, 83% of all genera and 90% to 96% of all species. We are currently going through the sixth mass extinction which will be the first self-initiated extinction event
————————————
Dinosaur got extinct on 25th of December in the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event
————————————
Due to mass segregation, the core region is estimated to be primarily composed of iron (88.8%), with smaller amounts of nickel (5.8%), sulfur (4.5%), and less than 1% trace elements

Moon is also decreasing the speed of rotation of the Earth by 2 milliseconds every 100 years
————————————
————————————
The thickness of the crust varies from about 6 km (3.7 mi) under the oceans to 30–50 km (19–31 mi) for the continents. Although the higher temperatures far exceed the melting points of the mantle rocks at the surface, the mantle is almost exclusively solid. The enormous pressure exerted on the mantle prevents melting because the temperature at which melting begins increases with the pressure
————————————
The Earth’s inner core might rotate at a slightly higher angular velocity than the remainder of the planet
————————————
The most recent reversal occurred approximately 700,000 years ago
————————————
The Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) consists of two satellites that can detect gravitational changes across the Earth
————————————
While there is no specific fossil evidence of LUCA, it can be studied by comparing the Genomes of its descendants, all organisms whose Genomes have yet been sequenced
